Artist Overview
Rooted in the landscapes of Essex and Epping Forest, her practice explores the quiet rhythm of natural systems — weather, growth, shadow, and seasonal change.
Working intuitively, she translates field sketches, photographs, and collected colour fragments into layered paintings that sit between representation and memory.
Her work often balances:
• Stillness and movement
• Structure and gesture
• Atmosphere and detail
Each piece is intended to bring the energy of the outdoors into interior space.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Process
Most paintings begin outside.
Long walks through woodland and meadow environments inform palette, mark-making, and composition.
Back in the studio, these impressions are developed through layered acrylic techniques that prioritise texture and depth over flat surface.
The result is work that holds presence at scale — particularly suited to low-light or richly coloured interiors.
Background
Hayley’s background in English Literature and Design informs her narrative-driven approach to painting.
Alongside her studio practice she works with collectors, interior designers, and galleries across the UK.
Her work has been exhibited through:
• Independent galleries
• Contemporary art fairs
• Regional exhibitions
Philosophy
Art should feel alive in the spaces it inhabits.
The aim is not decoration, but atmosphere -work that continues to reveal itself over time.
